Disposing of Reagent Strips
Our multi-parameter reagent strips are 100% eco-friendly and safe to toss in the regular trash. It doesn't matter whether your results came back within EPA guidelines or flagged unsafe levels of a contaminant — either way, the used strip can go straight into a normal trash can with no special handling.
Disposing of the Bacteria Test
The bacteria test is a little different, and how you dispose of it depends on your result.
If it's negative for bacteria: simply open the test and pour the water down the drain. It contains nothing harmful to your plumbing, so your kitchen sink is perfectly fine.
If it's positive for bacteria: take extra care. Add a small amount of bleach to the test, reseal it, and shake for about 20 seconds to kill the bacteria your water tested positive for. Once that's done, you can place the bottle — liquid and all — into the trash.
